Creating a New Project in Neupdates
Once you've set up your Neupdates account, you'll want to start creating projects to manage and collaborate on. This guide walks you through the simple process of creating a new project from your dashboard.
Step 1: Access the Projects Menu
Navigate to Your Dashboard
To create a new project:
- Log in to your Neupdates account
- From your dashboard, locate the Projects menu in the main navigation
- Click on Projects to view your projects page
Create a New Project
At the bottom of your projects list, you'll notice a plus button (+) in the right corner. This is your quick access button for creating new projects. Click it to begin the project creation process.
Step 2: Fill in Your Project Details
Essential Project Information
When creating your project, provide the following details:
- Project Name: A clear, descriptive name that reflects your project's purpose
- Project Description: A detailed summary of your project scope, objectives, and deliverables
- Start Date: The date your project begins or has already begun
- Estimated Delivery Date: Your target date for project completion
Privacy Settings
Choose the visibility level for your project:
- Public: Your project is visible to all Neupdates users, making it great for showcasing your portfolio and attracting new collaborators
- Private: Only invited team members can see your project, ideal for confidential or client-specific work
After filling in all required information, click Continue to Client Setup to move to the team member invitation phase.
Step 3: Invite Your Team Members
Add Project Collaborators
Now it's time to build your team. Complete the invitation form with the following information:
- Primary Client Email: The email address of the person you want to add to the project
- Client Name: The full name of the team member
- Company Name: The organization or company they represent (optional but recommended)
Assign Permission Levels
Define what each team member can do on your project by selecting the appropriate permission level:
- Viewer: Read-only access. Can view project updates, milestones, and files, but cannot make any changes or edits
- Member: Limited editing access. Can view the project, contribute updates, and participate in discussions, but cannot change core project settings
- Owner: Full control. Has complete access to manage all aspects of the project, including inviting other members, modifying settings, and managing permissions
Add a Personal Message
Include a personalized message when inviting team members. This is your chance to:
- Welcome them to the project
- Explain their role and responsibilities
- Set expectations for collaboration
- Share important project context or goals
Complete Project Setup
After inviting at least one team member and configuring their permissions, click Complete to finalize the project creation. An invitation email will be sent to each team member with details about the project and their access level.
You're Ready to Go!
Congratulations! Your project is now created and your team members have been invited. You can now:
- Create project milestones to track progress
- Post updates to keep everyone informed
- Manage project files and resources
- Collaborate with your team in real-time
- Monitor project status and deadlines
